What a typical day and 4 night stay looks like in the Luangwa Valley

Your days at Luambe Camp will typically begin with an early morning coffee followed by a game drive. The mornings are also a great time for our safari walks, coffee with the carmine bee-eaters OR walking the camera trap circuit to check on the night’s activity. A tasty brunch will be on offer at the camp on return from your morning activity.

Enjoy a midday siesta or go for a trail run through the park

After brunch is your time to relax! Have a rest in your tent, or grab your binoculars and spot the birdlife from under the shade of a tree. Alternatively, spend time in the main area with our team learning more about the history of the project, looking at what was caught on the camera traps or updating the large mammal sighting map.

Late afternoon game drives & visits to the hide followed by sundowners

The late afternoon is a great time for game drives. Your evening game drive will always include a special spot to stop, stretch the legs and with a sundowner in hand, watch the pinky sunsets over the park. We then drive back in the dark with the spotlights to return to camp for dinner.

Experience a night out on the banks of the Luangwa River

*This experience is only available to those who book the  “4 night sleep out special”.

This is the latest addition to the conservation and wildlife activities at Luambe. It is an experience aimed for the adventurous, for the explorers who want to totally immerse themselves in this pristine and remote wilderness area.
(Our first guests who experienced the sleep out fell asleep to the call of a leopard followed by the distant roar of lions.)

It will generally happen on your 4th and final night at Luambe. Instead of heading back to camp after your afternoon gaem drive, you will be taken to a your secret sleep out site where you will spend the night. A bush dinner will be served on site, hot showers and ablutions will be within walking distance to your tent and your guide will always be nearby, ensuring you get a peaceful nights sleep under the starry Zambian sky.
